Materials needed for the recipe

Here is the essential material for this preparation:

  • 1 1 liter jar
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Sharp knife
  • 1 Spoon to extract the pulp from the passion fruit

Ingredients for the mango and passion fruit rum

The key ingredients for this tropical cocktail are:

  • 1 'Avion' type mango, ideally from Peru
  • 4 ripe passion fruits
  • 1 Bourbon vanilla pod
  • Charette 49 degree rum

Steps for preparing mango and passion fruit rum

The magic happens by following these steps:

1. Preparation of the mango

Start by peeling and cutting the mango. Feel free to trim it to fit the jar.

2. Preparation of passion fruit

Cut the passion fruits in half and extract the pulp. If desired, cut them into quarters to make them easier to place in the jar.

3. Split the vanilla pod

Split the vanilla pod lengthwise to release its aromas.

4. Adding the rum

Fill the jar with Charette 49-proof rum. Close the jar and shake gently.

5. Assembly in the jar and maceration

First, place the vanilla in the jar, then add the mango and passion fruit pulp. You can add a little sugar, but in moderation, as the fruit is already sweet. Let the mixture macerate for at least two months. Taste and adjust the sugar if necessary. A three-month maceration period is ideal for a perfect blend of flavors.
